What's on My Painting Table August 8, 2015

Hey! Finished painting the Ancient Briton Light cavalry. Managed to get them glued to the bases and have started terrain work.

In the photos on the Baccus website I saw that they only put three light cavalry per stand. This allowed me an opportunity to use bigger boulders than I used on the foot troops. The "large boulders" are  Woodland Scenics Medium Talus.

What's on My Painting Table August 1, 2015

Hello Everyone!

I finally overcame my trepidation about basing the 6mm Ancient Britons!

Took a bit of himming and hawing about what to use but I have made my choices and will stick with them for this army.

What's on my Painting Table July 11,2015

For this week, something done!

GZG NAC based
The six stands of GZG NAC that I plan to use for Hammer's Slammers are done. This was a norrowly missed disaster. I had originally thought to have them in tan static grass to look like an arid field. They just did not look right.

Larry Brom GoFundMe Campaign

Hi,

If you have somehow missed it, Larry Brom, author of The Sword and the Flame wargame rules, has fallen on some tough times with a number of medical issues.

His daughter Lori has set up a GoFundMe campaign here to try and help. If you have ever derived any pleasure from Larry's games as I have, I hope that you will join me in giving back something to help Larry,

I know it seems like everyone is tugging at your shirt sleaves these days to give, give, give. But it is a rare opportunity when you can give back to a specific person who has created something that has brought pleasure to your life.

What's on my Painting Table June 27, 2015

I spent a bit of time basing the 6mm Hammer's Slammers this week. As I mentioned in a previous post, my 6mm background is from way back in second edition Epic, aka Space Marine. GW provided a molded base the plastic figures popped into. A quick pass with green ground rubber flock hid all sins. So now I am on new ground (there's a pun in there somewhere!).

First attempt
The above base was made with Liquitex High Viscosity Ceramic Stucco Texture Gel Medium followed up with some Deltaceramcoat Autum Brown..

Impromptu Game Night!

I had split an order from GZG with Krimso (we're both diving into 6mm Slammers) and this evening he came by to pick up his share of the order, He brought along a four pack of some lovely Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer, SWMBO was out for the night, so we decided to play one of the games he brought along. For this evenings outing we played "Battle Line" a game by GMT and created to Reiner Knizia.

This may become Krimso's ID picture on my cell phone

What's on My Paint Table June 14, 2015

Made some nice progress this week despite "life" itervening.

Have got the clothing on 18 more strips of Ancient Britons (Baccus).

I only show you their backsides as you can't see much behing their primered shields.

Finished the 24 GZG NAC to be used as Hammer's Slammers and have started to base them up.

The bases are 1" x 1" bases that I made from scrape galvanized steel back when our office had a model shop with a kick shear. I've thickened them up a bit by gluing styrene - easier to pick up with my short and stubbies. So far I have only glued on 3 per base (supposed to be four per The Crucible rules) as I can't decide if they should be all grunts or include a squad weapon.

And lastly, something finished. Not a word I get to use often! Here is the T-Rex Head (small) by Windsword.

And that's it for this week. A real quicky. Not even worth a "jump break"!

Evolution of Figure Storage

“A Personal Journey”

OK, so the title is tongue in cheek, but I was making up some additional storage boxes the other day and I thought a post on my “personal voyage of discovery” might be of use to someone. Cue the violins…

Let’s get this out right up front – I am a container junky. I have boxes full of boxes. If we’re in a store and my wife doesn’t know where I am, she knows to look first in the craft/hobby section and then in the container/organizer section. I never met a box I didn’t like…

What's on My Painting Table?

Well, miracle of miracles, there is actuall something going on on my paint table!

6mm Fever!

Lately I have been a bit smitten with 6mm. It all started last summer when I was watching Ringo Simpkins' videos on YouTube. Last July he was in a a Painting Challeng and dring part of it he was painting 6mm. Here is one of the vids. Couple this with my usual gaming opponent Krimso had done up some 6mm Romans and I thought I would give it a go.

I picked up starter pack of Baccus Ancient Britons as they were historical opponents to Kromso's Romans, and they had chariots which I thought would be fun.

Sprint #15: Blue Moon Cardinal's Guard

Hi All,
My last completed figures from 2014 are these Cardinal's Guard from Blue Moon's Musketeer line.

I am very happy with these, despite the saga completing them took!
